STIM320 IMU Module, Micro

Gyroscopes measure the spacecraft’s spin rate about an axis, allowing the spacecraft to precisely measure its rate of rotation, a critical component of the attitude determination and control system. The STIM320 module combines an off the shelf 3-axis MEMS IMU + accelerometer package with a Terran control board.

The IMU, or inertial measurement unit does what the name implies — it measures the linear acceleration and rotational rate of the satellite. It does this through a combination of highly calibrated gyroscopes and accelerometers.
